It shows we are present with them, ready to support them, and committed to their success. Though mornings can be hectic, carving out time for these in-the-moment interactions matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are tips for morning greetings that energize students and our classrooms:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Make eye contact and smile brightly. Let your caring show.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use enthusiastic tone and body language. Lean in to communicate, &#8220;You matter!&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Greet each student individually as they enter. Use their name and a warm question.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Offer a fist bump, high-five, or another appropriate physical gesture if they reciprocate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set a positive expectation or goal for the day. Remind them you believe in their effort.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide an encouraging remark about their strengths. Build their confidence.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ask about an interest of theirs. Show your classroom is a safe space.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The two minutes taken for morning greetings sets so much in motion, from students&#8217; sense of belonging to their motivation to engage. Starting the day realizing they are welcomed and supported goes a long way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How will you focus on connecting through morning greetings?
